POWERFUL HEARTFELT LOVE DEVOTION
Affirmation Prayer of Love
Dear Father God, I thank you for Your “great love” and that You are “rich in mercy” (Eph. 2:4) towards me and all who love you. In A POWERFUL HEARTFELT CHRISTIAN LOVE DEVOTION – Day 2 we learned about God’s lovingkindness. “Because of Your lovingkindness and mercies, I am not consumed, for Your compassion Lord will never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness” Lord unto me (Lam. 3:22, 23). Thank You, Father, I pray in Jesus’ compassionate and faithful name. Amen.
The Core of God’s Heart is Mercy
Yesterday you read about God embodying love through His heart—He is Hesed. The entire history of God’s chosen people of the Old Covenant, the Jewish nation of Israel, is one of God keeping His covenant relationship with them.
Whether they were walking in obedience, plunging into the depths of sin, or turning away in unbelief, God always revealed Himself as Hesed. He was continually present with His people to achieve His plans and purposes in them, delighting in, and yearning over and expressing His covenant love and mercy towards them.
But You are God, ready to pardon (forgive), gracious and merciful (hesed), slow to anger, abundant in kindness, and You did not forsake them” (Neh. 9:17b—NKJV).
God Passionately Loves, Longs For and Pursues You
The Old Testament stories of God’s Love and Mercy for His chosen people tell you what you long to know. He passionately loves you, longs for you, and pursues you even when you mess up or walk away from Him.
This God of love was present every day, hour and moment of their lives, and He is present every day, hour, and moment of your life. He is faithful to you because He is Hesed, and His covenant love is greater than the covenant itself. God is the Hesed of the Old Covenant, but He also is the God of love (agape) in the New Covenant.
God Defines Himself
Then the Lord passed by in front of him (Moses) and proclaimed, ‘The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth: who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin. . .” (Ex. 34:6).
He Is
- Lord God
- God Who Is Slow to Anger
- God Who Is Abounding in Lovingkindness and Truth
- Compassionate and Gracious God
- God Who Keeps Lovingkindness for Thousands
- God Who Forgives Iniquity, Transgression, and Sin
